This beginner-friendly workshop is designed for artists who want to learn how to use our RealTint® PULSE machine to create machine-controlled SMP dots.

This workshop will only cover our machine-automated SMP technique. Freehand tattooing will not be covered in this event.

WHAT IS SMP?

SMP is a semi-permanent solution for people experiencing hair loss, hairline recession, and/or desire the appearance of fuller hair volume. Tattooed dots on the scalp simulate the appearance of follicles, increasing hairline volume, improving the hairline shape, camouflaging scars, and enhancing symmetry of the natural hair pattern. 

SMP tattoos are designed to blend seamlessly with the client’s natural hair growth to create an "invisible" enhancement. 

Both natural and stylized hairline styles are possible. Hairline styles are mapped, shaped, and custom-designed for each client.

This workshop is designed to be immersive, efficient, and skill-focused. Students will receive hands-on instruction and guided practice throughout the day.

Live demonstrations will be performed on silicone skin.

LICENSING REQUIREMENTS

PMU licensing and tattoo regulations vary by state. Students are responsible for checking their local requirements before offering permanent makeup services professionally.

10:00 AM - 11:00 AM

SMP Hairline Design

Sanitation, skin anatomy, and hair recession patterns will be covered during this module.

Mapping the Hairline

Hairline mapping basics will be covered. Mapping is a skill we use to ensure symmetric results.

11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

How to Use Your Machine

Machine functions, hand pressure, working posture, and SMP needle cartridges will be covered in this module.

SMP Dot Patterns

Practice drawing SMP dot patterns. Dot pattern drills and basic hairline enhancement strategies will be covered. 

12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

LIVE Demo by Your Trainer

Your trainer will complete a live SMP demonstration on silicone skin.

Snack Break

Snacks and beverages will be passed throughout the workshop.

Guided Silicone Skin Practice

Practice with a RealTint® PULSE machine and SMP pigments on silicone skin. Your trainer will supervise your work.

Business Skills

Client forms, aftercare, SMP photography, and basic business skills are covered in this module.

FAQ

Do I need PMU experience?

No. This workshop is designed as an introduction into SMP for those that do not have any experience. 

Do I get a kit in this workshop?

No. To keep your investment as affordable as possible, this workshop will not include a student kit. All attendees will receive a discount if they wish to purchase supplies or build their own kit.

I don’t have a PMU machine or PMU supplies. Can I still register for this workshop?

Yes! You are not required to bring anything to this workshop. You will receive full access to our machines, pigments, and PMU professional supply during your workshop.

Are snacks and drinks included?

Yes. Water, soft drinks, and snacks will be provided.

How do I get my PMU license after attending this workshop?

We can work with you to build a custom program to meet your city/town’s licensing requirements. Just tell us which city you wish to work in.

Do I tattoo a model during this workshop?

No, this workshop includes guided practice on silicone skin.

Can I get tattooed during this workshop?

No. After this workshop, you will receive a discount voucher for PMU services by our artists. For further discounts, you may sign up as a student model.
